Tsimtsum

by Katherine De Lange G12P, SY 2017-18

I know I’m wilting with how

Long my eyes are open, night and day

I hang on the distant promises that retreat

Farther and farther away because life has

Doubled from twelve hours

To twenty four

Time has expanded, torture prolonged,

My spirit desires to do something else and it prompts me to dream but

Inevitably I go back to work at four o’ clock in the morning

It means the divine’s contraction at the moment of creation

Like my soul’s compression

Me and my body so divides
